My Ride: 2005 BMW 525i - E60 - CCC idrive
2005 525i E60 owner from New Zealand
Hi all,
Glad to join the club at last. Its been so long that I intended to join one of BMW forums. I proudly own a Jap import 2005 BMW 525i - E60 and so far my journey with it has been tremendous and very smooth drive. I had a 2002 BMW 525i - E39 until I traded with E60 series. Hope I will get support from all of you to fix any issues with my E60.
Have lot of questions on Japan Import as I am seeing many discussions pros and cons of a Jap Import BMW....
Cheers, Kris

Glad to have you Kris! Welcome to the forum!
So tell me, what exactly do you mean by a Jap import? This is the first time I am hearing that term.

Pretty sure he just means the car was a Japanese market version. I am not sure what the difference is compared to our US version but for the longest time Japanese versions of vehicles did not comply with our (the US) safety regulations but could be legally imported almost anywhere else in the world. Its kind of like the Nissan GT-R as the only GT-R that meets our safety standards is the R35 and the only other GT-R that is legal for importation is the R33 because it had reached the 25yr age limit where as the R34 has not yet reached that age requirement..
When I was in Russia in '98 there were GT-R's and WRX's and STi's all over the place, I was saddened that we did not have them in the US. I did see an R34 on the road a few years back but it was not road legal.
