The behavior different between different sunglasses is probably a function of whether the glasses are linear or circular polarized. Sit in the car (not moving) with the HUD up - if you cannot see with the glasses at normal angle but can see it through the lens at a 60-120 degree angle shift, it is because your lenses are linear polarized in the wrong direction. If it's bad at all angles, the circular polarized glass may be the cause. You may need to experiment with different glasses.
I think most manufacturers use polarized glass for their LCD screens too. They should really standardize on this and make a recommendation on what type of sunglasses to buy!!

says in the owers manual that the HUD may not display properly with the use of pollarized lenses, that said, i have persciption lenses that are polarized and it's very hard to see the HUD even when it's not sunny. i believe it's the way that the screen is displayed on the glass. mine are armani as well. the frames at least.

Good suggestion - the polarization angle of display devices should be standardized. Since polarized sunglasses are to reduce reflected glare off surfaces, most of them would be veritically polarized. Therefore all display devices should be vertically polarized.\
The LCDs on my E60 is fine with this particular pair of sunglasses of mine, but for the portable NAV in my other car, I have to tilt my head 45 degree counterclock wise to get the max brightness from the NAV if I wear sunglasses.

Sit in the car (not moving) with the HUD up - if you cannot see with the glasses at normal angle but can see it through the lens at a 60-120 degree angle shift, it is because your lenses are linear polarized in the wrong direction. If it's bad at all angles, the circular polarized glass may be the cause. You may need to experiment with different glasses.
I think most manufacturers use polarized glass for their LCD screens too. They should really standardize on this and make a recommendation on what type of sunglasses to buy!!
