Default Can the windshield rain sensor be reused on a new windshield?

If an F10 windshield develops a crack and needs to be replaced, is the only recourse to get an OEM windshield, or can the rain sensor be reused?

I recently had my windshield replaced but I had to specify I wanted it replaced with an OEM windshield and yes they reused my windshield sensor.

Thanks. Did the dealer perform the work or did you use someone else with OEM parts?

I used someone else that did it while I was at work but I told them I wanted OEM only. I checked the windshield before they installed it and it did have bmw logo on the glass.

i bought my 2012 535i with a crack in it, the glass guy said the dealer sold it that way because they couldnt sell it as CPO unless it had a factory shield, would cost them around 2-3 g...of course the stealer didnt disclose that info....

He installled a PGW as1 shield in my driveway the day i bought it, and said it was as good as OEM (soft like all the german shields) but only around 600 installed....used the old sensor and it works perfectly

i was fine with that, as i got a pretty good price on the car for so cal
