What (if anything) is stored in the lift gate?

Default What (if anything) is stored in the lift gate?

Bought my e61 used, so noticed it was missing the First Aid kit, and also noticed that there is a little storage compartment in the actual lift gate. Is there supposed to be anything in there (like a safety triangle, umbrella, or shotgun) in that compartment? Or is it there just for added storage?

Normally a blue plastic box is in there which contains a safety triangle. This blue plastic box is attached by two rubber straps in this little compartment. This is the only thing that is there originally.

The first aid kit is attached in the storage compartment on the right side inside the booth, there where the battery is.

In certain countries in Europe (like Germany) the safety triangle is required by law, and is supplied by BMW automatically with the car. Since it's not a legal requirement in North America, I don't think that they are normally supplied. I picked one up on eBay specifically for the E60 - didn't cost more than $10, just to have it in the car.

Thanks! What's the PN for the wagon first aid kit? Any different from sedan?

Instead of the oem triangle, I bought one with flashing LED's built into it, that also doubles as a flashlight. Way better IMO.
