My car has 130,000 miles and I've never done the walnut valve cleaning thing. I think it's noticeably more sluggish, but the shop wants $1000 to do it. I'd like to run the car for another 100,000 miles LOL, they don't make wagons anymore!!! How much difference does it make?

You will find a noticeable difference in fuel consumption and how the engine generally runs. smooth idle for sure

What should I expect to pay for this? It seems surprising to me that BMW suggests this every 30,000 miles… But the quotes I've gotten are for over $1000.

Who else is getting this done on a regular basis? Does using the oil catch can that some aftermarket companies sell make any difference?

Hi guys, I want to update this thread as I am still getting messages after few years. I am not able to help as I don’t have time nowadays, if you need this work done in Vancouver BC you can contact Navid at Venus mechanic (604) 897-0517 he is very reasonable and great guy that trained in Germany and knows Bmw in and outs.
