Speedo 10kmh wrong
Hi all!
my wife's E61 530xd speedo is 10kmh out, when driving at 100kmh (looking at speedo in car) GPS says that i'm doing 110kmh, this isn't good, How can I re-calibrate it?
Thanks

wow Thanks for all the help!!!!!!
Well I've fixed it!
What I did was take out the cluster, removed the back so I could get at the clocks, Then I made sure that the speed needle was as far past zero as it would go (it's not much!) I then pulled the needle off with my hand (no tools required) I then re-positioned it approx. 10km, put everything back together and went for a drive with a speed app on my phone, It now shows the correct speed ( not the speed that BMW set it at -5km!) and got a happy wife!!!

PS, this is first time that I see this post, otherwise I would have commented earlier.

Her car is a 2008 we bought it a couple of years ago and noticed it on the drive home, the tyres are the correct size, I have checked the speed the whole way and it's 100% correct with GPS!
Thanks for your reply FormerE30Owner

So it appears that the error was a "day one" error. Probably a improperly installed cluster. Not many people calibrate their speedometer with GPS, though. Yes BMW does "build in" a -5 Km/H error in their speedometers for obvious reasons, so +10 KMPH error is not usual.

Trouble was it was the wrong way, when her speedo said she was doing 90kmh she was really doing 100kmh where a factory fresh BMW would be reading about 105kmh
