Oil icon at shutdown
New to the forum and have been searching for this condition without luck.
I have a 2008 535xiT auto with 74K. All systems check out okay but when I turn the engine off the oil indicator icon appears in the center of the instrument panel. When I check the status all systems are okay and oil level is normal - oil was recently changed.
The car runs really well and was walnut blasted about 2K miles ago. I just started noticing this condition. Is this normal? Should I be concerned?
BTW - I just want to take time to thank all the people who have taken time to post so many helpful remedies.

I've never seen that on my car... but it has once gone from completely green to add oil as soon as I can. Half a quart and it stayed green from then on. I read that the sensor is not the best thing in the world.. might be just on the threshold when you shut down it reads low and on startup it's enough.

Rice_rocket88 - Thank you this sounds logical -- I will add a smallish amount and see if it remedies the problem.
