Keyless Entry Not Working
Hi. I've done my best to search the forum and diagnose what is going on without much luck.
Details:
2006 530ix Wagon
Key fob will not lock/unlock doors, or open lift gate.
Stereo works (no FM problems like some other posts)
No comfort access, so I cannot change key fob battery.
Unfortunately only have one key.
I have left it in the ignition over night to attempt charging it.
Checked all applicable fuses.
Could this be an issue with wires in the liftgate being severed? I couldn't tel if that always affected the radio or not.
If I take my key fob to autozone and point it at their little key fob battery tester and it shows the battery is dead, does that indicate that fob is the problem? Or if it shows the battery is good, does that point me in another direction?
Thanks!

I'd bet it's the tailgate wires unfortunately, or the diversity module, if the car comes with it (not sure if non comfort access cars also do), but easy enough to check that, and you probably should anyway, as often they get water in them and go kaput.
And given that your car's an older one, I'm betting you don't have the foam spacers in the spoiler to reduce water entry into the module. If you search, you should come across a tech bulletin on it with part numbers that you can buy to do yourself.
And lastly, make sure to check all 4 sunroof drains are clear, and will most likely need to unclog and remove the ends of the two rear drains.
