Default Installing a 12v ignition switched power source in the glove box

I needed a 12v power source in the glove box to power my JB4 bluetooth module so I could bring up my car's data on my cell phone. I didn't like having to plug it in every time I wanted to use it. It's just more convenient to leave it plugged in all of the time.

I thought I would make use of the outlet in the footwell, which I didn't know about until I stumbled across it here. So, thanks. First I had to get to the back of the panel. There are 5 screws that hold the panel in. 3 of them attach to the dash board under the glove box, the other 2 attach to the center console. To access one of the bolts to the center console you have to remove the small carpeted strip shown here. Slide it to the rear of the car to release the clips.

Once the panel was removed, I unplugged the outlet and tested which wire was positive. (the green one). I then made up a harness to intercept the power and deliver it both to the outlet and carry it up to the glove box.

I then just plugged my harness into the outlet and the original connector.

Running the final connectors up to the glove box is pretty simple. There is a clear path with the panel removed.

I then just reinstalled the foot well panel and refastened all of the screws. I purchased a 12v outlet from eBay, which included a USB adapter, to use as my plug for the JB4 bluetooth transmitter.

If you wanted to, you could mount the outlet to the plastic piece on the panel that covers the fuse panel. I wanted to make this mod completely reversible, so I just insulated all of the exposed connections and secured it behind the cover panel next to the fuse panel.

Hopefully this was helpful. I am now going to brave the cold and tackle the wiring issue in my rear tailgate. I have a feeling I have a few broken wires.......
