Default exhaust mod time

Okay, had my 535xi for about 2 months now, worked out the kinks.
I want to mod the exhaust, within reason, any suggestions give me a price estimate. I got about a stack, ghetto lingo for $1k

There was one for sale in the classfieds, a guy named Anthony IIRC. It's sold, but has some good info on it.

And this one might work:

Otherwise, did you already do a search in this forum as a start?

n54Tuning.com Your #1 Source for Performance Parts for the N54/N55

Start with N54Tuning downpipes

For a muffler, MagnaFlow Stainless Steel, Straight-Through Universal Muffler - Street Series - Polished Finish MagnaFlow Mufflers MF14815 as an example, you can likely find something the same shape cheaper elsewhere.

Magnaflow straight through ( you want straight through vs a baffled muffler for turbo applications )

http://www.aeroexhaust.com/ Aero Exhaust is pretty good and well priced as well - their 4040 series muffler was used by HPF for their Goliant series exhaust on Supra's, and has a 4" inlet/outlet.

Unfortunately because of E61's being XI, there's no off the shelf exhaust, so the rest you may want to bring to an exhaust shop to fab up - I personally would have resonators added here as well to help keep any drone down. You should be able to come in under $1k.

Also be aware, N54 engines run a true dual exhaust from the turbos all the back to the mufflers, so the muffler has to have a dual in, although this company appears to have made it single.

http://www.bbexhaust.com/car/e60/535tt/ ( this will not work on E61's due to the XI nature )

http://bit.ly/1Ntj1Cj Summit Racing link for all 3.5" inlet universal mufflers to be comparable to what BB has.

This looks like a well thought out answer, but it's not totally correct. The exhaust is not true dual all the way back. There is a length of a couple feet between the resonator and mufflers which is a single pipe.

Ah, that'd explain the BB exhaust a lot i've seen looked true dual at the rear, and since the down pipes are dual and independent as well I just assumed.

So then to redact - wherever it goes to single, I'd recommend going single all the way back then

The 335i does appear to be true dual, but I don't own one to confirm. I can only speak for the 135i and 535i.

N54Tuning downpipes won't fit a 535xi.

how about running dual straight pipes out both sides of the back bumper. I want to do this but not sure how loud it will be as compared to single straight pipe
