AWD to RWD conversion?
Curious, but I read somewhere that the drivetrain on all N54 cars are the same ( e.g. the engine/transmission is the same across the 1, 3 and 5 series ). Anyway, 6spd swaps aside, wouldn't it also be feasible then to do an awd to rwd conversion from a 535i?

Just thinking out of the box here. Could you achieve what you want simply by forcing the transfer case to allocate 100% power to the rear? Can the car be coded to do this? If not, my understanding is that there is a small electric motor on the transfer case that controls a worm gear that controls the power allocation. I suppose you could force that into the rear bias position.

Why would you? As you add power, isn't it better to have AWD to be able to put it all down? AMG is even going that route...

This is a good read on the subject if you have the time.
TL;DR - You can have the car be RWD by pulling some fuses or disconnecting the front axles from the transfer case. We will be doing one or the other for the summer as pushing over 600whp though the transfer case might not be the best idea. Converting it back to AWD for the winter.
does the 335Xi have the option to be RWD like an STI?
