Actually, it's a heavily modified N62B44 with centrifugal supercharger and intercooler. 530PS, 700+Nm. The engine is codenamed "H2", I believe - the original B5 engine was "H1".

I just sold my B5 Touring - it was great fun, but on too tight a leash in London.

Plenty of low rev torque is one of Alpinas trademarks, as they think this is the region where people use their engine most of the time. And they are more focused on reliability (did you hear that BMW?!?) than churning out new fancy stuff that doesn't work, so it will be some time before there will be a B5 4.8 twin turbo.
