Its mainly for Winter use, when you are looking outside the window and not wanting to step out into the cold to start the car and walk back in while it warms up. LOL

I go snowboarding a lot, so this would be beneficial for my car.

don't get me wrong I would love a car starter, I think the central Canadian winters may be colder then the NY ones. But the key right now yes I can use from my house window to the car, but not from my office, at work by the time I get close enough to the car for the remote to work I might as well just get in and start it cuz I won't be going back upstairs after.

I have the remote heater as factory option (in Europe). Runs a diesel furnace that heats up the passenger compartment; not sure if it pre-heats the engine as well. Works from about 150m (500 ft) distance and makes a lot less noise than starting the engine which I had to do during the cold winter months in my previous 520d. Too boot, I believe it is more environmentally friendly as well as economical to run.

I have a GPS transponder (tracking device) which has an output that allows you to remotely turn any gadget on or off via SMS and the manual specifically suggests hooking it up to the pre-heater. I'm not utilizing this option right now but come next winter season I may consider it if I wont be close enough to switch on the heater before I leave the office in the afternoon.

I know BMP Design(bmpd.com) sells the Stellar alarm. Maybe they can shed some light on this product.

i would not do it because it looks cheap and it will be a catch to buy another item along with it that will jack up the price if u read the info on the site very carefully.

Wireless range on the key is about 50 feet. I park my car in my driveway...it would be great if that thing works. harlem you going to give it a try?
