It will mirror your Android phone to BMW screen, an you will
be able to control it with Idrive wheele.

I am a beta tester so i have tested it and here is my video if someone

Is there something that can do this for an iPhone in a LCI CCC E60?

You can do this with an iphone, but you loose the Idrive wheele control.

You can also buy an Dension Icon Drive, but that is not compatible with Iphone/pod 5 and up yet.

Taken from Smartlink instal guide.

Supported iPod / iPhone devices

1,2
iPod Touch (2nd, 3rd or 4th generation)
iPhone 5s / 5c / 5 / 4S / 4 / 3GS and 3G
1
control is
possible from the device user interface only
2
additional Lightning or 30 pin Digital AV adapter is required

I have 5s and guess I'll have to wait. Is there any possibility of using the wheel with the iphone other than the stock interface?

All you need is interface module, the appropriate cables, and bam. But yes, you won't have wheel control.

Though it would be much cheaper than buying Denison though.

Is this better then doing the combox retrofit? I did the cic retrofit but the combox retrofit sounds expensive and complicated

Currently I can access my music with my 5s through the Aux menu using the standard Y cable and the Apple adapter. I can get to all my playlists, but would like to use the functionality of the iPhone screen like in the video.

So I can add the interface module(where to buy, how much, how to install?), but then I would have to use my iPone screen itself to navigate? I guess I dont see the value added when I cant just leave the phone in the console like I do now.

I recommend the one sold by Modmynav.

Yes you would still have to use your phone to interface, however, the benefit of course is that your phone display is now mirrored onto your iDrive screen, including videos and whatever else you want to display on your phone, could be better GPS or whatever.

I'd be all over this in a heartbeat. Unfortunately no Motorola supported devices. But it got me thinking, the smartlink has a usb and an hdmi port so i wonder if a miracast adapter from belkin or google chromecast would work with this to allow non-mhl devices to also work. Would you have any way of testing that scenario?
