m5 mirror installation help
I just bought a set of m5 mirrors that have ! plug. My 2005 545i has 3 plugs. Does anyone know how I can get these installed? I dont have the original mirrors right now so swapping parts out are not an option. I dont really care about the folding feature i just want to get them on and working.

I don't think you can make it to work ... with our car all the communications to the mirror are sent via signal to the mirror ECU not a simple +/- ... so imagine if you have many wires into 3 plugs that control operation of the mirror at least to tilt up/down, left/right, heat and dim how do you figure those functions into a 3 wires single plug

I never heard of that ... the main thing you need to swap (if it's even possible) is the ECU which control the whole function of the mirror.

the base of the motors/ecu is very different on the 2004 (and maybe 2005) cars. on my old 545i (2004) the ecu was actually inside the door and thus the connections were all screwy. newer cars can plug and play bc the ecu is contained within the motor assembly and share the simple plug...
i know that it is possible...however you will more than likely need to hard wire them into your mirror ecu...which could be very labor intensive and will require much more research. i knew how to do it at one point but honestly i cannot recall now....
