This thread says that cruise control has not worked after we installed the M5 cluster so this should not have been a surprise for you.

I have not given up on it yet. Just hasn't been a priority for me to try and sort it out.

Some things I want to look at would be to see if there is a different firmware we can flash to the Kombi. Or maybe the KGM needs to be re-coded.

It seems to me the canbus message does not match for the cruise control.

If you guys want a working oil temp gauge but don't care too much about the other M-features, it might be worth considering a 6-series cluster. 630i would be appropriate for the 6 cylinders, and 650i for the 8 cylinders. Pre-LCI should have the variable RPM too (though I'm not sure if pre-LCI clusters work properly in LCI cars).

Just added an LCI 630i instrument cluster to my dad's 535xi, and everything works perfectly after coding

Just installed an M5 cluster in my 535. Cruise works fine

Mine came from an LCI model. Maybe you just need to update with WinKFP

I didn't do anything special. Just coded my VIN to it, recoded the cluster with NCS Expert, and took it for a drive.

...Or are you asking how to update it with WinKFP?

Default Another Working LCI M5 Cluster Retrofit

I figure I’ll resurrect this discussion from a few months ago, because it looked like there was a lot of skepticism about getting this to work fully without errors, despite a few successes noted above. Well, I just did mine last night, and it’s functioning perfectly with no errors or tamper dot.

I purchased a March 2009 M5 cluster for my 2010 LCI wagon (born July 2009). I removed and resoldered the EEPROM to flash my VIN and clear the miles. After flashing the EEPROM but before coding, my cruise control was not functional, and I got the typical errors for transmission, EDC, and several others. Then I simply coded it with my custom MAN file from my original KOMBI and everything works. No errors, correct red line, correct oil temp, and transmission [P, D, R, gear] reports as the original cluster did, including with the SAT retrofit function.

I’m curious to see if there is a pre-LCI difference, so if anyone has a pre-LCI cluster (or LCI for that matter) that they’re struggling with, I’d be happy to help (share BIN files, flash, etc).
