The number "7" bars are on our E61's with the panoramic sunroofs. The bars that Ricky installed are specific to the M5/M6 and they would be in addition to our existing bars. I would think the combination of both types of bars would be a great benefit to providing additional torsional rigidity to the rear section of the car, helping both - cornering and secondary vibrations/chassis flex. If we were to add an additional Ultra Racing bar to the rear most portion of the rear sub frame it would also help as well. Basically you would be looking at a "W" type structural bracing concept to the rear of the car which I would think would add significant rigidity and help the car feel more solid.

M6 with #20

Installed M5 OEM reinforcement pull rod-650.jpg
650 with #17

That's why I think #20 proivde more stiffness than #17

Great observation! The good news is that the E61 M5 has both #17 and #20, so you can fit both to an E61 and maybe also E60.

What about #5 and #7 under the front end? I don't see them on the E64 picture you posted. Are they only for the M6? Should they be visible from underneath the car?

So after you installed these were you able to put the plastic shields back on underneath the car.

there is not plastic shields for the rear bars.
Only the front has it.
ricky will look for the front bars to try and fit them on and see how it turns out.

Ricky if I enter the pull-rod part nr. on the RealOEM cross-reference, I get a huge list of sedans from 520d up to the M5, implying these pull rods are mounted on all these sedans:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref....51+&showeur=on

This is weird - can you give an explanation from your research? Have you seen them on another factory E60 apart from the M5?

Maybe they are stock equipment for some "bad road" markets?

These pull rods on list but default M5 model only. I think factory save cost and found no need reinforcement beside M5 machine instead of "bad road" markets. I wonder which country is the "Good road" markets in the world.
