E9X vs E60 bolt on mods.
Already posted this on the N54tech forum, but figured you guys might have been down the same road.
I have a 2010 535 and as you can imagine, there is not a large modding community like there is for the E9x's. My local FB groups have E9x n54 stuff up for sale all day everyday. So what can I buy from the guys parting out E9X n54's that will fit my e60 n54.
Can anyone pipe in on the differences?
Same:
JB4 (already installed)
BMS DCI (already installed)
Blow Off Valves
Meth Kits
Different:
Charge pipe (some MFG's require you to specify chassis, some dont??)
Down Pipes/any exhaust
FMIC (some say it will work with both??)
Right now Im have JB4, DCI. Next is charge pipe/BOV.... then maybe one day DP. Will probably stop there.

I can only answer that when I was looking at the charge pipes, a lot were similar. The only thing was that the 2010 charge pipe I'm not sure if it's the longer or shorter one.. ie I'm not sure what year rolled over. My 2008 has the shorter one so it would have been advantageous for me to get the long pipe and an adapter. I'm not clear that if the newer cars have the long pipe stock, and you got a long pipe replacement.. then you'd be screwed.. and have to cut the pipe short?
But.. the part numbers matched up between E9X and E60

Your question is too vague, if there is something you are looking at just post what it is. Some FMICs are a direct replacment while others are not...depends on model year and other factors.

So you are saying that it needs to be approached as a case by case basis? As in different years E9X have different charge pipes or DP's? And that these changes from year to year are not mirrored in the E6X. Example: A 2007 E9X CP will fit a 2007 E6X, but not a 2009? ATM this is specific for CP.

Without knowing the product I would say it is a case by case basis.
As an example, I am sure that an ER CP for a 335 (N54) will only fit a 335 and the 535 has a slightly different CP.
VRSF CP - Per their web-site only fits a 335. They actually do not let you search for a 5 series/E60. If you look at some vendors, like modbargains, they advertise the VRSF is for the 1/3 or 5 series.
I would recommend posting the manufacturer of the CP you are looking at so we can all chime in about fitment. If you can't get an answer from us, then you could call the manufacturer to ask about fitment.
When looking at DPs you must know that the 535i xdrive can only use the AR Design DPs, or you have to have them custom made. The RWD 535i can take a lot more, but then again, are they swappable with a 335?

SO far ive gone with a vrsf cp and it fit fine, a little tight around power steering reservoir lines, but not a concern. HKS bov has tons of room since I am running dci.
