So i've been looking through these forums, pulling my hair out as to how I go about in retrofitting bluetooth in my 04 E60 525i (that has the S640A Preparation f tel.installation universal option already installed). I know there has been countless of threads, but each one seems to confuse me more and more.

I had looked in the back of my boot, and noticed there was no TCU unit. I have since bought a TCU unit (part number 84106982067) from one of the forum members, who have claimed it had been taken off a 2006 530i.

My question is, what additional parts do I need to mount the TCU to the back of my boot and get bluetooth enabled? It's more so a question of hardware than the coding required. Does anyone know where I can get a retrofit kit from (without the TCU)? Is anyone selling such a kit?

I plan on using the TCU with my iphone 4s.

in the location where the TCU unit goes, do you have plugs there? should be 4 of them colored white/black/purple and i forgot the other, a big one with a white tyco connector and a black one with two fiber optic lines i believe.

i sold a bluetooth tcu to a member on here yesterday, i installed and coded and got it working. he did have a non-bluetooth tcu in there before, but all the wiring was there for the new tcu to plug in. remember the TCU is in the back of the boot next to where the shock mount is, not the one you take out to change the lightbulbs...you have to remove 2 more black clips and unscrews those latching things on the bottom to be able to move the panel out of the way to get to it.

hey, apologies for the delayed response, but here's a photo of my boot. looks like i do have the coloured cables. is it simply a plug and play? will I need something else besides the bracket mount (i.e. part number 84136924420)? I believe I also had an aftermarket bluetooth module fitted in a few years ago, are the microphones universal? or will I have to buy a new mic?

Hi, did you manage to get the bluetooth to work? I have a 530i with the SA640A, but have absolutely no idea how to go about with all this. All the research has just yielded me with guides for the e90, nothing for the e60.
Any help would be much appreciated.
