Unhappy Dension Gateway 500 Self Install Issue

Hi All!

Well this is my first post so be kind!

I've just purchased a Dension Gateway 500 to install. Car has CDC and was worried that it would be complicated to install. It has been!

First off, CDC works fine - no issues. Operates from iDrive.

So installed as per Dension's instructions (and other instructions from the forum too which has helped!) Optical cables - all correct way. Power working fine. (Charging my iPhone and iPod. Also iPod recognises the Dension as getting a logo on screen).

The issue - the CD on iDrive is now greyed out and i can't select it? What am I doing wrong? Instructions all state that i only need to have car programmed if no CDC?

Hope you can offer any assistance!

thanks

You need to have a CD in the slot for the CD Changer to function.

has CD in the slot in both the changer and in the main one? Like I said it's fine without the Dension unit plugged in and then soon as hooked up it greys out

The dip switches may not be set correctly. Double check the setting for use with CD Changer, they will be different from the setting if using the Dension alone. Get them directly from the Dension website.

The dip switches are as both the instructions and website. Even tried changing them off this and back onto them just in case it was loose!

How do you have the dip switches set, any chance of a pic?. Is the unit new?. Are you sure you have the direction of the fibre optics set correctly?. Is there a chance that the cap on the fibre optic diagnostic port came off during installation (it's in the vicinity of the glovebox)?. Is the switch on the Dension in the right position?. There is an "off" that you would use if you don't want the car to recognize it.

What year is your car?. Can you play burned MP3 discs in the main CD slot?. If so, does the track info/name appear on your idrive?

Beyond the above I don't know what else to check. I fitted mine without any problems, but I elected not to keep my CDC so my dip settings will be different.

I ended up buying the Dension Gateway Enabler tool. Cheaper than getting it coded at dealer - £40 and it worked! Thanks all for suggestions. Got there in the end
