Hi guys,
I have installed Dension with BTA 1500 in my car. It works fine but microphone is attached to visor and looks ugly. I tried hiding it inside where OEM microphone would fit but mic quality deteriorates to a great extent.
I wonder if BMW OEM microphone could be fitted to dension . dension has a 3.5 mm standard input socket. How is sound quality with OEM mic
Please advise if anyone tried it
Thanks

Can't see why not. Both are just condenser mic with different plugs.

Thats correct the OEM mic does not come with any cabling. And NO cars do not have spare cabling for modules that were not fitted at the factory.

i searched on internet and cant find much info on OEM MIC with Dension.
It seems that BMW OEM mic has 3 pin connector. Now if 3 pin connector then how does Dension mic which has a 3.5 pin cable connects to it. I was thinking of just soldering a 3.5 mm connector cable to BMW OEM mic. I dont know how i do it if it has 3 pin connection.
Any suggestions? Can anyone confirm if BMW Microphone as 3 pin connector ?

I've been thinking about this... (I fancy doing the same when I finally get my Gateway 500)
The OEM Mic has 3 wires - could it be a stereo mic? (Can't reason why it would need to be, but maybe to let it pick up voice equally well from either front seat?)
Now we need someone with the Dension mic to check the 3.5mm jack - does it have 3 segments (like a headphone one) or just 2? This too could point to it being Stereo or Mono?
Looking at the OEM mic picture above, the wire colours do look a bit weird... The yellow and black look most likely to be the actual mic wires, but I wonder what the silvery one is... Does anyone have access to a wiring diagram for this part of the car? Maybe in the official bluetooth retrofit instructions??

I have a retrofit cable and the plug that goes into the OEM microphone has indeed three pins, however only two (Pin 1 and Pin 2) are actually used. See the picture.
