I have seen pics on the internet of the E60 with 20's; however I did not know that they would fit without changes to the car.
The size you bought are probably give your car a more sporty look.

On a semi related note I parked next to an E60 525 yesterday, without the sport package so it had the std trapezoidal rims (16" I believe they are). Color was jet black as mine. Appearance of those stock rims versus my 18" had a tremedous effect on the look of the car. Very common looking with the stock rims while the 18's filled the wells out perfectly.
