High Mileage e60 M5
Hi Folks
Been a while since I was on here I used to have a 535d, then a M5, and various BMW cars since then but recently I've had a desire to get a V10 back in my life.
Been to a few e60.net meets, wonder if some of the old crowd (circa 2005) are still around?
Back to my question though, with the high mileage m5's being quite cheap now, is it worth taking the risk?

My Ride: 2006 M5
If you've not been on, M5 Board is the primary place for info. A lot has changed since 2005 and there is more information on common faults and fixes than you would imagine.
There are many cars out there and some are good deals and some aren't. In the US at least, warranties are nearly impossible to come by that are worth having unless you pay nearly 25-30% of the car's sale price for it.
If you're mechanically inclined though and do your own maintenance, the car is a blast and one of the most rewarding to drive.
Mine is an 11/05 build and now that I've worked through all of the common (and many uncommon) issues, I trust it for long hauls. My wife and I took it to Canada last year on a trip about 1000 miles each way with no plan in place for breakdown other than the tools in my trunk.
I've been trying (half-heartedly) to sell it for a few months and every time I drive a different car and get back in it, I'm wondering what the hell I'm thinking.
