My Ride: 535d Sport in Carbon Black / high gloss shadow line and beige leather / dark poplar with professional nav, bluetooth phone prep, CD changer, bi-xenon adaptive headlamps, servotronic steering, folding mirrors, heated comfort seats, TV, extended voice control and Logic 7 hifi.
It was just Clarkson doing what Clarkson always does - on TV, in the Times, in the mag - creating a huge contrast so he could make it clear how much he really likes something.
Don't forget, as he said back in the studio "you probably can turn the voice off".... suspect BMW had sat on him (for his discount

Agree with Merv & Clived,
I never expected JC to master the modern technology the M5 is equipped with (let alone the standard E60 fare), he's hardly one to move with the times (check his dress sense
) - but was glad to see that he finally stopped rattling on about the unimportant things and started reviewing it properly!
Still preferred Tiff's review on 5th gear tho'

I did admittedly sit there shouting 'YES YOU CAN TURN IT OFF' and 'JUST PRESS MENU THEN HIT THE IDRIVE BUTTON DAMNIT' several times.
The indicator thing can be fixed too so it doesnt do the 3 signal...
I think the looks are something you either love or think 'hmmm' too. Although the sport varients are a marked improvement over the standard E60. Especially at the front.
However i do think he bantered on about it for so long just to create that huge contrast.....the M5 is an absolutely awesome car.

Sat Nav doesn't come on on it's own... Use the volume to change the volume. and you don't have to go back into iDrive to change the station back. he pused it up, so why not try pushing it down??????
Ugly??? has he looked in a mirrior?
basically, if it had a 3 pointed star on the bonnet, he'd have loved the entire car, iDrive n' all.
He's so bias towards MB it's ridiculous.

Had a friend in automotive industry, he told me it is usual practice with the media guys, if you want a positive review you just borrow an M5 with full tank for a week, if you borrow a 120i for one afternoon be sure the review will be bad
