My Ride: e60 550i M-Sport, 6mt
I was very skeptical but tried this mod on my 2007 550i manual trans. My car has the sport package, including active steering and active roll bars.
Much to my surprise, in sport mode the steering becomes much heavier. Almost too heavy for parking lot speeds, but once you get above 10mph I really like the efforts. The throttle response is now more crisp as well. All in all a nice little mod for $10!

My Ride: 545I
This mod is EPIC. I didn't think it would work on my auto 04' 545i, but it absolutely did. I crudely wired up my sport button just to be sure it worked. I plan on coming up with a clean solution this weekend. Not sure what It does to the steering, the best way I can describe it is....BETTER. I mean its just the bees knees guys, and it literally took me longer to read all 60 some odd pages of this thread than it did to set it up.

Found out why steering did not get heavier
I was one of those who did this mod (2006 525i Manual), it improved the throttle response, but the steering remained unaffected. Changed the FDC_ID_MONITOR and FDC_VERBAUT in KOMBI module to aktiv, but still did not make any difference. Finally I dug into the SGM module, found SERVOTRONIK already set to activ, but FAHR_DYNAMIK_CONTROL was set to nicht_aktiv. Changed it to aktiv, went out for a test drive and ... voila, the steering now became much heavier as soon as I turned on the sport mode.
So folks, if you want the heavier steering, but it eludes you, now you know the answer.

My Ride: 530i base model
Model Year: 2006
Just finished on my 2004 pre LCi model 530i 6 speed manual. I used oem parts such as the sport switch and tray. I didn't notice any steering wheel affect, heavier or anything else (probably because i am lacking a servotronic) but the throttle response is noticeable more responsive than before like installing a sprint booster!!! Connections are the same as in first page mentioned for pre LCI cars. I have M5 cluster instruments so no "SPORT" indication there just the light of the switch goes on when you press the switch.
