Vacuum pump small hose connection's
2008 BMW 550i e60 n62/tu, does anyone know where the small hose from the vacuum pump connect to. Its just dangling, and I can't find where to connect the other end.

If i'm not mistaken that goes out to the exhaust flap solenoid in the trunk. remove the left rear liner in the trunk and a solenoid will be just under the left rear light with a vacuum line coming from the engine and another line going down to the exhaust flap. check to see if you have vacuum coming from the engine if you dont then thats your dangling vacuum line. it connects to a more sturdy rubber vacuum line that will be dangling under your air filter coming from the drivers side. if you dont want to get bothered by it then plug the vacuum pump then open the flap with some metal cement wire. take a look behind the exhaust tips and you'll find theres a solenoid there that moves the flap you can manually open the flap and hold it there using the cement wire. Throatier sound + more free flowing exhaust. if you do fix the vacuum line then the exhaust flap will open at around 3,000rpm (thats the job the solenoid that sits under your rear left right). but i'd manually open the flap to make sure it still works because if its been sitting like that for some time carbon buildup will give it a hard time.

Yeah no I couldn't figure it out, nothing but electrical wires to the left rear and the battery on the rear right and everything looked good except no vacuum line. I'm trying to upload pictures. If anyone has pictures of the vacuum pump diagram hose connection would be greatly appreciated, thanks...

It should look something like this, but I think we are talking about two different things. Where is the part dangling at. Under the hood?

yup thats the solenoid behind the trunk liner i was talking about. His problem is with the vacuum line coming front the vacuum pump, its dangling in the engine bay. I took a look at my engine and as i said before the line disappears under the intake. I remember last time i took off the intake i saw it connect to a thick shiny rubber hose right under the intake.

vacuum pump small hose connection
It's in front of the motor passenger side next to the vanos plugs and right above the oil sensor.

gferr you're going to have to remove the air intake to plug that vacuum plug back in. or you can buy a cap to close the vacuum pump and lock the exhaust flap open. Heres the OEM cap number for the vacuum pump 11667528505
