transmission problem gearbox blocked
Hi I just experienced a transmission problem last night. When I put my vehicle in reverse, sometime it works, but half the time it pops out and place my vehicle back into park mode. I would need to keep trying to engage the shifter to reverse. I scanned my car and it threw up code 4F82. Is this due to lack of transmission fluid?
My car is at around 109,xxx miles. Did my transmission fluid change around 90,xxx miles myself. 2008 BMW 535i
I also got an error code 507B

Hi
You tell that you changed the transmission oil yourself, but did you do the right way, and used the right oil?
It is not just fill it up until it runs out of the filler hole, then you don’t have enough oil in the transmission.
The oil temp needs to be between 30-35 degrees Celsius, take a look at this document here from zf.

Okay.
If you are sure that the oil is at the right level and not in any way contaminated (look for small black particles) then it gets a lot more complicated.
It can be a lot of things, but if you search the net, you will find that other with the same error found that the seal between the gearbox and the megatronic unit was broken, but it might also be the solenoid for the reverse gear, or a piston seal in you valve body.
I replaced the seal and all the solenoids on my E60 two years ago, and it was a two days job.
I suggest that you take a look at some of the videos that Weberauto have on their youtube channel,
that might pinpoint you, in the right direction.

What model is your transmission, zf6hp19, 26, 28?

Yes and a lot more.
You need to remove the pan, then disconnect the cable from the vehicle to the transmission, remember to unlock it on the valve body before you try to remove it.
Remove the valve body by removing the 13 TX40 bolts that hold it in place, remember to get it supported before you remove the last two bolts.
Take a look at this video.
Then you have to remove the plastic cower with the transmission ECU, connected to the valve body. Now you can get to the connectors on the solenoids, and check the resistant.
But that will not tell you if they are defect, but just tell you the condition of the coil inside.
To test them properly, you have to remove them from the valve body, and connect them one by one to 12 V. you should hear a click, unfortunately you will not be able to see the solenoid piston move, because it is inside a filter cap, so it can still have a defect, and even if, you cannot be sure anyway, because these solenoids are not just on/off.
But after you removed your valve body, start whit checking the seal between the transmission and the valve body.
Also take a look at this video.

Type in the last 7 in you VIN here, to tell what transmission you have.

It was a piece that holds the fluid that cracked. Replaced the part, and works now. I forgot the name of the part but will update when i get home.
