Default TPM Sensors

I apologize, I know this has been beat to death. But is there any difference among TPM sensors, besides chrome vs. aluminum vs. black, etc. I've seen different brands vary widely on price. Can the brands be that much different? I seen one brand cost $141 set vs. $370 set, that's a big difference.

Titan TT-BE-007 = $141
BMW OEM on Bavarian = $369.95
Huf on Bavarian = $244.95

Have you looked at Autohausaz.com? Looks like they have decent price on BMW OE. Huf is an original supplier to German cars, so they should be fine. Don't really know about Titan no-name brands - wouldn't do it. Just consider you need to have the tires unmounted and remounted and balanced if there is an issue and that isn't free.

Are your sensors bad? Their should be no reason to replace them if they are not. You should only be using a rebuild kit when replacing tires. If they are around 6 years old then you might want to consider replacing them. The lithium battery lasts up to 10 years

I'm pretty sure it's the sensors, they are the originals from 2008. I received a TPM Malfunction and at first I was like WTF. I was able to reset, but a few hours later went on another errand and received the malfunction at startup, it actually reset after a few miles then that was it. Malfunction has been present for awhile and tires are holding pressure and I actually disconnected/reconnected the module in the trunk.

Anyone know if the OBD tools allow you to see the battery life? My 2006 has the old style ABS FTM and not the direct TMPS. Daughter's 2007 Mazda TPMS is still fine. Wife's 2009 X5 TPMS is still fine.

Excuse me for asking but how do you do the reset. The ideal way is to stop in the street with the engine running, press to reset and start driving for at least 5 miles. If you do a reset with the engine off then start, the system will not be reset.

I don't know you so I thought I would ask.

That is the only way to reset it. He said he unplugged the module but I do not know what that accomplishes. If he has not had new tires recently it could be that one is malfunctioning.

I did the reset through the iDrive. Car was parked in "Radio on" reset TPM through iDrive, then drove for a few miles, that was me running errands. I happen to notice the iDrive state, "TPM resetting..." everything was good for about 2 sec. then it went back to malfunction and has been that way. After the car was parked for a few hours later, I figured I would try unplugging the module because I also read that in another thread, but it didn't do anything.

Supposedly there is equipment that tire shops would likely have can tell you the remaining battery life. They may read the remaining battery life value for you seeing as they'd be unmounting and remounting the tires.

I think if that was the case their would be a setting in INPA or another program for it. You can not reset the sensor through any programs so I am thinking it is like any other car. It goes when it goes and when it does you know to replace it. The board inside is small and I don't see it providing any complex data other than a difference in pressure it was set at.
