Water Pump = Coolant Pump ?

My Ride: E60 530i
Model Year: 2004
Engine: M54
Water Pump = Coolant Pump ?
Does my 2005 530i (M54 engine) use electrical coolant pump or else ? I would like to know the correct method to bleed the air out of the cooling system if I am going to replace one of the cooling system component: radiator, thermostat, etc ....
Also, I heard people keep saying coolant pump in BMW. Does that mean water pump ?

My Ride: 2007 BMW 550i
Coolant pump is the water pump, and on the M54 its just a normal mechanic pump. No idea how to bleed it though, if i'm not mistaken there are plastic screws that you undo to bleed the system, but dont take my word for it. Somebody will probably pop in to help you with that.

Coolant pump is the water pump, and on the M54 its just a normal mechanic pump. No idea how to bleed it though, if i'm not mistaken there are plastic screws that you undo to bleed the system, but dont take my word for it. Somebody will probably pop in to help you with that.

E60 m54 application has no bleed screws. If possible, park the car with the front of the car slightly elevated. Top of the expansion tank and don't replace cap. Turn heat settings up to max temperature on both sides and fan set to low setting manually. Start the car and let it idle checking fluid level in expansion tank regularly, adding coolant as required. When coolant level stabilizes, 10-15 minutes, shut engine off. Allow engine/coolant to cool and do final topoff, replace expansion tank cap and go for a drive. On returning, allow engine to cool off and do final fluid check, adding coolant if required.
