should i keep my e60
Hi Guys,
I always dreamed of having an e60 and have had one for the past few years.
It is a 3 liter e60 disel and my partner drives this car to work.
when purchased it had 114k on the clock and now it is 145k .
since purchased, I have changed ball joints and number of repairs to keep it in top condition.
all done by me .
now that I am aware my partner is going to do around 10-15k a year , I am starting to ask after what miliage does diesel start to become headache and very expensive ?
what is your view?
Things like injector or turbo going or even engine/transmission wear
so far ecu went on me, ball joints at back, entire track rod. brake discs, battery , glow plug controller, fuel pump, and glow plugs
now I can smell fume inside the car which reading around points to cracked exhaust manifold.
I love it but don't want to keep it and keep spending money on it.
do you think a diesel car lasts 250k or more without any major problem ?
alternatives I am seeing are x5 or kia sportage.
have kia but they are cheap
also as hard as it is to admit, I am starting to like cls

My Ride: 530d
without knowing the car intimately, that question cannot be answered. I run a small garage, my 530d is on 180k, but also its had a new engine (swirlflaps) turbo, flywheel(manual), all the suspension stuff, several ecus, exhaust manifold,(most of this was done by previous owner and car has been good in my care) however I have customers , 1-2 owner from new who are over 200k and never ever had a big bill, and likely they wont for a good while yet.
