Default Rear window trim

Ok have a question my rear window trim is falling apart and I plan to replace it soon but I was wondering if I could remove it until I get the new trim would that hurt anything?

Thanks

It's cosmetic and apparently helps reduce wind noise so you should be fine if you pull it. Maybe you'll like the look without it! Super easy DIY

It won't hurt. I've actually already replaced my front and rear trim before in the past. I had the same problem again so I was replacing my front trim last night and will do the rear again this week. I guess the Texas sun kills the rubber. I was watching a video where the guy recommended using a UV protection on the rubber or wax, I never thought I needed to do that so I never did. Perhaps that will help prolong the life of the trim.

When I replaced my front and back I started using UV protection and it has holding up well for 3 yrs. Hopefully it will last for a while.

What have you been using and how often do you have to reapply it
