Depending on the power draw it could be possible. I would go LED to be safe.

I think you are correct... I jumped it off the brake/parking lamp next to it on one side and it worked, but after holding the pedal for about 15-20 seconds it triped all the tail lights out. All came back on after cycling the key. I do think it was too large of and amp draw and an LED in the socket will likely work. Now I'm debating just getting some after market lamps all together and hooking up the fogs as intended via a Euro switch.
