My Ride: bmw 545i 6 speed fully loaded
Please help stop the bleeding!
Hi fellow 5-series drivers,
This is my first post, so here goes..I recently purchased my first BMW e60 545i 6 speed 112k. The car drives great, looks awesome, but I have experienced a plethora of problems since purchasing it in December of 2015. Any help/advice/insight is greatly appreciated.
1) coolant issue between heads in valley drip pan (fixed $$$$)
2) coolant reservoir leak (fixed $$$)
3) coolant hose replaced ($$)
3) CCC catastrophic failure (replaced unit w/ 2010 550 unit $$$$)
Current issues:
1) fan stays on when motor is on (issue was not happening before CCC swap)
2) TPS states flat tire. air pressure is 35 psi. Issue was present before CCC was replaced but would go away when air was pumped and TPS was reset via iDrive)
3) Auxiliary input not working (worked with previous CCC prior to replacement)
p.s. - CCC was plug and play. No programming was done as it was DIY.
It's been less than 3 months and it's becoming very difficult to keep up with the repairs. Can anyone PLEASE help stop the bleeding?
Thanks in advance,
bunz

You should have had a PPI done and service check on the car done before purchasing. The n62 is known to have a lot of needed maintenance after 100k miles.
Your car shouldn't have TPS, it should have the FTM monitor. It pretty much uses the ABS system to track the rotation of all the wheels. If the tires are different sizes it could set it off.
Your AUX input may need to be coded for it to work.
To be honest, your car won't get any cheaper in maintenence. I just performed over $5k of work over the last 2 weeks on my car. From the dreaded alternator gasket leak to the valve cover gaskets, I've done the valley pan gasket, coolant pipe, coolant hoses and alternator, my car should be good for another 100k miles before having to do all of that again.
I think over the course of the 3 years i've had my car, ive saved over $8-10k in labor costs since I know how to work on cars.

My Ride: Jet Black '05 545i, Sport/Premium Pkg, Steptronic, Adaptive Xenon, Nav, L7, Blue2th, PDC,
What? Is that all?
No alternator leak, no vacuum pump leak, no oil pressure leak, no power steering reservoir leak and no valve cover leak? I may have missed a few...
As stated earlier, the 545's didn't come with TPS unless, the previous owner had them installed afterwards. If you're running stock 18's the the front should be at 36 psi and the rears at 44 psi. A flatter tire will have a different rotational speed than the rest and will cause a warning.
The fan is controlled by a coolant sensor. You have a couple but the one controlling the fan is the sensor located on the lower radiator hose on the passenger side just behind the connection point. This sensor may be faulty. Good luck

Model Year: 2010
The 2010 uses the CIC iDrive, which isn't compatible with your current CCC system unless you also replace alot of other parts, plus it also needs to be coded to your VIN by and indy
