isnt their a option to have one of the steering wheel buttons mute the music? can you set that button to mute so you can use that if its something thats wrong in the knob?

Yup. I have one of my buttons set up to mute on/off. Very useful.

I have bought a new M-ASK module and the mute. Symbol turns on and off now and i can manually set and store stations -which i couldn't do with original unit, but i now get an error message: head unit not coded correctly. So after reading some post I have ordered a cable and software for ncs expert to be able to recode the head unit, but I am thinking the whole car may need the entire program updated to the latest version, but so far I can't find an individual that can help me?

The reset really only requires holding the Vol button and the CD eject. It worked for me when I was having problems with the Blutooth recognizing the phone but would not load the addresses. Rebooted, woks perfectly

Pryor to re setting, the radio would not recognize the station call outs e.g. 106.9 after rest shazam.

I got into my 2007 550i this morning and got no sound from my radio. I hitthe unmute/volume button and it stayed muted. I drove all the way to workwithout music. I could make calls on my phone and the calls were broadcasted bythe car. Everything worked except the radio/satellite/cd. I got to work andturned off the car then restarted it. That did not work. I went inside checkedsome emails and read some forums. I was going to try to reset (push the volumebutton while pressing the ejects on both the cd and dvd). I put my key in andthat is where I saw the warning about driving the car and looking at the roador something to that nature. I did not see that warning this morning or I justmissed it. That warning causes your radio not to work. It allows everythingelse to work but no soup for you.... I mean music. Hope this helps somebody outthere.
