Default MTech Front Parking Assist mounts .05¢, but you can only buy BUMPER!?

I am stuck.

I have pulled my bumper off and it's now at the shop getting painted. I failed to stop before a curb that hooked my bottom lip too many times. I have the MTech front bumper.

PROBLEM: The 5 cent sleeve you see here:

I dont actually need the Parking Assist Sensor that fits in the sleeve. You would think this is easy right? Just call BMW and get a whole new SLEEVE AND sensor, thats fine, but NO, you can only buy the SENSOR and then the BUMPER.

I am NOT BUYING A NEW $1K bumper for a MINOR 5 cent part. Dammit this is frustrating.

Suggestions other than salvage yards which are even less redeeming.

I would even buy a used, DAMAGED bumper for 100 bucks with a few of these in there... then I can sell the spare at $50 each!

Sigh. ANy suggestions? I have called the Bavarian auto houses and they all say they order from a PART number only. while this tiny sleeve has A part number (very short) its nothing that comes up online.

Much appreciated any direction you might think of.

Which part number are you talking about?

51110432215
or
66209142107

And BTW, nothing on your car is $0.05.

Nice find, however neither of those are right. You saw the pic where the "FLAT" part of the sleeve slides into the bumper.

Those numbers are referencing a 535, not 550, is it the same part?

Thank you!

Mine are a bit longer and have the clips as you see. I have not found any front ones on ebay.

Wkistler23 Thank you! That was it, the 51110 part! SWEET! I wasted so much time hunting this down and talking to lazy parts people that said the part didn't exist.

Saved the day!

From my limited knowledge of PDC, I believe with the LCI update in 2008 the PDC sensor clips were molded with the bumper. I have not found a part number specifically for the holding clips for an 08'.

Also, the PDC clips from pre-LCI to LCI are different diameter sizes. Hence the different part numbers of PDC sensors, themselves.

Lastly, bumper parts are interchangeable for certain models. 550 bumper parts will fit on 535 and 528. (However, M5 would be a different story)

***I'm having trouble viewing your photo.

edit: I'm glad I could help!

Default Well poo sticks

Nope, that part didn't work either. What is it about these MTech bumpers?!

Here is a photo of the original damage where you see the PDC is pushed in, and apparently the sleeve fell off.

The body shop says they still don't have the right part. WTF!?! I'm going nuts. Here comes a new bumper sadly...

I'm not 100% but I believe the 2008+ models had the PDC pieces molded with the bumper. There is no individual part number.

Let me know what you do with the old bumper!

Default I don't think so...

But not sure, why do I have a sleeve that fits around the PDC clip ? this came off my existing one...so they are separable. Not part of bumper.

So wait, you were with me and now your saying I'm SOL? LOL

What is shipping cost? I have no idea, couldn't be too much more of 50 bucks because it's light right? I am in 75056, you can calculate that.

What are you wanting to offer me for it? Might make it worth it! If I sold my old bumper for $300 this is so going to work! HAA HAA
