Hold down both the CD eject, DVD eject, and the power button (a.k.a. the volume knob) at the same time.
Mine died yesterday and I tried that and it didn't work. I turned the ignition of for about 30 minutes and then it rebooted, keeping my fingers crossed it won't happen again.
cheers

From my own experience, replacing CC takes a little more than a day (replacing CCC module + reprogramming + checking); My dealer systematically asked for 2 1/2 days overall. Maybe you should anticipate for a loaner ?
Don't forget you also loose all personal settings (POI, Audio settings...etc...etc...)
Good luck anyway

OK, finally got my car back. Copello you were correct that it would not take just 1 day for the work.

First of all, neither the CCC nor the software update are covered by CPO.

The dealer said they would update the software to the latest version. They felt the CCC was fine. Also, due to its cost of the CCC (>$1200), try the software first. The labor to do the job cost me $190.

The new software version is: E060-07-09-521 The old software was E060-06-12-510.

So far the iDrive is alive. I will update the post if anything changes. Thanks all for the advise.
