My Ride: 2010 535i X-Drive, M Package

Hi guys, I'm a new member here. Just bought a 2010 BMW 535i xdrive (90,000km). Love the car. I have two issues with the car.
CEL came on a few days ago and went away after 3 starts. When I got home I scanned the car using a general OBD reader. It showed code U0100. Car runs fine. No problems.
Second issue is when I use my wipers there is a loud smacking/knocking noise before the start of each wipe cycle. Is this a common issue? I changed the blades using Bosch icons and checked the nuts on the wiper arm to insure they were tight but the noise is still there.
I purchased a third party warranty for 2 years, 30,000km. wondering if I should get both checked out. Any help or info regarding these problems will be greatly appreciated.
