Thumbs up

It is strange, but my 545 shakes when I start it in the morning. After it warms up it stops. Any comments?

Does it do it everytime? If it just happened maybe once or twice, maybe it's just bad gas.

I noticed that when I'm leaving my house, the car shifts somewhat abruptly. I'm still rather new with a stick, so I was blaming myself, but after the car warms up, it never happens.

tdocz,

I had a similar thing with a V8 Audi - turned out to be a misfiring cylinder due to a faulty spark plug - shouldn't happen on a new car but you might have some dirt got into one of them (?). Worth having it checked now rather than later.

heezy545i,

Wow, your one of the few controlling 8 cylinders on a manual stick. More gas, slow clutch. First time I had a 6 cylinder manual shift I stalled it once a day at the lights near home. Felt I right prick each time ! At least you just jolt a bit - now way as bad as me!

Tdocz,

Mine did that occasionally as well. It did it more when the car was new. Now I have close to 5000 miles and it hasn't happened in a while.

I took it in today. I will see what they tell me. Yes it does happen every time form the first start of the day.

Mine is a 520i and it happened the first day I took delivery. I sent the car in for tuning and servicing...but still the same.

The dealer tested it and said that all BMW's with the v8 do this as they warm up.

Could very well be true, but could also be an excuse to get you out of the door.

My car shakes too at start up. Recently, also encountered a few occasions on which the engine stutters at low gear. Wonder what is wrong.

Hi All

Mine has somewhat similar problem on occasions (the shakes at startup). Also my transmission gets abnormally busy shifting between 5th and 6th when turning street corners every now and then.

Kiing, is yours also a 520 (mine is)? I think 6 gears is too much for my smaller engine E60.

Any leads to the above observations?

Bunbun
