Default Bmw 525i 2004 Acceleration problem

Hi

I really need help. Its been 3 months since i purchased my 525i e60 model with the M54 engine and one thing ive noticed is that its not responsive when accelerating. At 30mph is like hicups. The rev idles up and down between 1000rpm and 2000rpm at cruising speeds but is fine at higher speeds e.g. Motorway driving or driving at anything above 30mph. Does anyone know the reason for that? Someone mentioned a bad crank case valve and hoses...!! The car does smoke from the exhaust but not alot. When its warm the smoke will come from the exhaust. Is this normal or it shouldnt smoke at all. Ive had a bmw e39 with the m54 engine but not with this problem. Can someone please help and explain the actual problem because i am getting confused. Local garages i do not trust especially where i live

You'll really need to get the codes read.
I'm having some issues with my 525d but there are so many possible causes ...........

Have you tried the EGR and MAF? I'm sure you have, sorry 😢

Definitely not normal and consistent with symptoms of a plugged CCV system, which is a very common problem on M54.

As for your running condition, without having any fault codes stored it's going to be check the basics; make sure you have good, fresh spark plugs, make sure you have a clean air filter, make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks. MAF sensor could be worn, as could 02 sensors.

Start with the basics. Are you sure there are no fault codes stored in any modules? These cars are so incredibly sensitive, it's pretty rare to have a car running noticeably poorly and NOT have something stored somewhere.

To be honest i was shocked the way it drives on local runs. Motorway driving is perfect but you can sense the poor acceleration when puting your foot down on stand still. I am going to get the spark plugs and air filter checked including MAF. If not then my guess would be a poor Crank Case Valve. I am 100% confident the car is not leaking any where in the engine bay as it is mint as new. But i have to mention sometimes whilst driving with heaters on there is sometimes a rubber burning smell but that tends to go away quickly but this happens not all the time? Would that be a hard clue to the accelration problem and car smoking from the exhaust?? It is not bad as ive seen afew on youtube. As far as i know M54 engines are really strong...

Actually in short is doing same problem as yours. I take the car to the Garage and they told me is the fuel pump and they change it and the car is still doing the same thing. On the machine the is no codes found, So what it was the problem on the car or how did u fix your own. Your response will be highly appreciation Regards Sammy my email address (sammymandla250@gmail.com)

ok so I had an eerily similar issue last year. What fixed it for me we’re getting my oil sensors replaced, and I also got a smoke-leak test done on the cat which showed one the hoses just needed to be replaced.

i have the same issue ive changed plugs and ccv along with valve cover gasket and intake manifold gasket, i know i still have a small oil leak towards front of engine which i think is oil filter housing gasket but lately ive started getting a low oil pressure light that will pop on after driving for a bit right when coming to a stop but dissapears almost instanlty till the next random time so i think its just the wire on sensor from me moving it but need to check to be sure. i got a weird throttle adaptoin code for the first time today but normally only codes i see are for air path or leaks somewhere which i havent seen in awhile so i think i fixed those. could the accel issue be caused by either my icv or thorttle butterfly itslelf malfunctioning? also if i had an oil delivery problem i would definanly know right becuz the oil light wouldnt just go off right away nor happen randomly?
