Well, this forum is great!
My car has manual folding mirrors and I wish to fit electric ones.
Apart from having to change the switch to conrol them, I know there
are ones with memory which remember the positioning. Some cars are
pre wired. I know out there you guys have done this, so I would appreciate some expert
advise and the way to go about it....

Need some more information about year for your car. You may need new door module and you will require programming.

I've very curious as to the solution myself, I have a 04 - 545i and I'm considering doing the same thing.

Take a look at this post...
I'm waiting for the module to install on a clients car. Darn module got delayed due to the Volcano in Europe. The module is coming from Germany.
Also, you have to make sure the mirrors do have the folding motor. Some of these mirrors do not.

Nice work nig!! Most people will browse over that thread and get nothing except buying the SAM module for $85 shipped from Germany.
I know I sure did.. lol..
So it's almost the 1 year anniversary since you did that mod and no one has yet to make a DIY WITH pictures.

Take apart the car, Make sure the mirrors have folding option. For pre-09/2005, You can grab the folding wire in the door. Once you have that wire, it will wire up to the Sam Module.
If you have a Post 09/2005 car, you need to route the Sam module wires directly to the mirror, through the door and tap into the folding motor. (pain in the ass but doable).
And then wire up the Sam module the way it says in the instructions and you are set.
Simple eh?

Yup. Pretty simple. I was just teasing about browsing over your details so you didn't have to summarize the process but thanks for sure. Someone will hopefully make use of it. (Rizbel I assume will be using that thread)
I should have bought that module from you when you were parting out your car nigxdoof.

It was such a pain to do it on John's car too. his car was in pieces inside when we did it. LOL.
Make sure when you get the mirrors. take it a part and I can direct you if they have folding option or not.
