Default 535i - 2008 " Engine Mailfunction"

Hi;
I got the message Engine malfunction reduce power while I'm driving. I was very close to my work and I reduced the speed to 45 and park the car. Any ideas and suggestions what should cause the issue? I'm taking to the Mechanic tomorrow; but your inputs are appreciated.

Thanks

could be any one of a number of things. you will need to find someone with BMW diagnostic software that can properly pull the codes for diagnosis.

first of all the only way to do this is to pull fault codes.

but i can throw out some idea as to what it can be.

most common issues are spark plugs and coils. easy job. part of maintenance

then you get into more serious things like, injectors or walnut blasting intake ports

(walnut blasting should be maintenance for these direct injection cars)

Hi;
Thanks to all; I went to the BMW dealer and they was able to find the issue. vacuum leak - they fixed.
BTW, spark plugs and cols has been replaced around 6K - now my car is 71K. One thing they said this model is known for this can of faults when you trying to go for maximum throttle - I mean when you push the car above 6 or 7 rpm.

Again thank you all.
