Default 2008 N47 E60/E61 Turbo replacement

Hi,

Hopefully someone can help.

I’ve just had the turbo go on my 2008 E61 N47 520d 76K. My first question is can anyone recommend a trusted reconditioning shop, I am in the UK?

My second question is the removal of the old turbo, I have looked at the Haynes manual and this states you have to remove the bottom bracing plate and lift the engine with a crane in order to remove the cat/dpf? This seems way OTT, does anyone having done this before have a rough procedure guide?

should be an easier way, remove the airbox and if required the inlet manifold? Definitely ask them too, they should have info

I have just finished this job. Ignore the haynes manual, this is an easy job 2 hrs in and out........

Air box out
Drain oil.
Undersheild off.
Turbo / intake and compressor pipes off and out the way.
Disconnect all relevant sensors.
Oil feed and return off.
Three manifold to turbo bolts.
Turbo bracket underneath.
Job done!
