Default 2004 BMW 545i no start after transmission work



Hi everyone,
First time poster here. I've run into a major problem. After having a friend work on my 2004 545i E60- ZF GS19A trans the car won't start. Straightforward job- replace trans pan, bridge seal, sealing sleeve but now the car won't start. Prior to this I was having rough shifts but I was told the bridge seal is a common wearable item (car has about 77k). I ran some codes in INPA and got P0706. I have no idea where to start. Could someone please help me shed some light on this? Hoping he didn't damage the mechatronic unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check to make sure you have the Mechatronic connector fully and properly engaged. Also check to make sure you have the bowden cable at the Mechatronic in the correct position.

I was just going to write the same reply


About 6 months ago a guy rang me after doing the same repairs as your friend
and asked me to help
I removed the filter/pan and saw the selector not engaged
I simply loosened the valve body realighned the selector


and away it went
