Hi everyone,
I have a 2004 545i E60- ZF GS19A and recently replaced the transmission pan, bridge seal, sealing sleeve and changed the fluid. Topped off with ZF fluid with the engine running at approx 86 deg f (probably should have waited to 100). Now the car goes into limp mode whenever cold. It won't go into reverse when cold- car thinks its in neutral. Once the car warms up after 20 minutes it can be driven, limp mode sometimes goes away other times will stay unless hard acceleration occurs no issues. What is concerning is that I can smell zf fluid. Not sure where to begin but have several codes. Has anyone encountered this before? Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

check to make sure the cable and sealing sleeve is 100% seated. This will cause the issue you're having. Did you do the refill procedure right and reset transmission values. One or a combination is your issue if you did the install correctly.
