100k miles jb4
I have a 2008 535i that I recently bought. The car has 99,000 miles and it seems to be pretty strong, although I don't know the history of the car. I've been wanting to get a jb4 tune but I don't know how it will hold up with 99k miles. What do you guys think ?

Mine (535xi) has 192,000km on it and I run Map 1 all the time. I find it will realy show any weakness in your ignition, especially worn spark plugs or bad coils. I don't hesitate to stomp on it whenever and wherever. Once in a blue moon it will hiccup enough to bump the engine into 'limp home' mode, but it just needs a re-start to clear that up and all's back to normal. Even with this map, I get great gas economy.

i would not do it--esp if you do not know the background of the car. The JB4 is pretty hard on the car. I loved it!! it would pull hard and push me back into the seat when i floored it. I was afraid that eventually something will give, such as the tranny or such (which i have had fully serviced). I did have to change some coils like the last post.
I got rid of my JB4 and got a COBB tune. It is still fast, but smoother, no pulling hard and pushing me into my seat initial motion, which i miss, but is better for the long term health of the car. However still got the car easily to 158 mph with the COBB tune.....
really NOT trying to start the COBB vs. JB4 debate though....

So you think I should go with COBB because of my mileage ? I don't wanna blow anything up so I like how you mentioned the COBB being a little less aggressive on the car.

Silly thing about these cars - first gear is a waste of time, as is the 7000rpm redline/shift point for automatic. Faster 0-100 starting in second manually and shifting around 5500rpm at WOT. BMW should have used a taller gear ratio in the final drive.

I'm maybe 138K miles.. and still with JB4 map5 .. drive it until I break it... there are no signs of things to happen. I keep on top of most of everything.. next task is a valve cover leak. That'll take me a bit of time to take apart. I wouldn't have even noticed it if it wasn't for me changing my spark plugs and having oil all over one of the cylinders..
