My Ride: E61 535d carbon black m-kit panoramaroof with beige nasca interior and wood trim. 172m rims. DimSport Race, SB, SAT
The venerable 524TD is to my knowledge the only 5-series diesel ever imported in the US. It sported 115 DIN HP and a top-speed of 112 mph, making it the fastest diesel car in the world when it was launched in the 80's. I've been looking for how much CO2 this car emitted and I wonder if there's anyone at all on this forum who has any idea?
I'm making a list of diesels and comparing how they have improved in both power as well as environmental performance and I'm missing data on these early machines.
PS I'm a diesel enthusiast as my twin-turbo 535D goes 0-62 mph in 5.9 secs and easily tops 155 mph; it does all that while going 3 times longer on a tank of fuel than a comparable 550i. With that, there is really no reason to get ones hands on a 550D tri-turbo which does the 0-62 mph in 4.7 seconds....
