Hi, Appreciate this is quite an old post, but can you remember what other fixings other than the two bolts in the tailgate area have to be taken off to remove the rear bumper. Also, any tips for picking up the wiring for the electrics? I'm obviously going to use a bypass relay but was wondering where is best to pick-up and if you still have a note of the vehicle colours.

Cheers, Mark

Do you have a link for the electrical systems too? Was hoping to find the wiring for the tow electrics. Is there a good pick-up point or just tap into the wiring at the light cluster?

Also as I usually make a mess of getting the expanding rivets out any idea of a good source of replacement ones?

Thanks.

Sorry I can't name any shops for rivets and stuff, especially because you haven't told us your location. Please add it on to your information.

Here's the wiring diagram: http://spaghetticoder.org/bmw/wds/e60e61/
And here's the online version of the TIS: http://tis.spaghetticoder.org/e60/

Just thought I'd note for any inquiring minds that AlwynMike's instructions are spot on; bumper is really easy to remove even for a total noob like myself. I was able to put the rivets back in without issue, we'll see how they hold up.

Actually, the job was even simpler than that! I just needed to remove 2 bolts (1 each side). I've attached a picture (in a Word document) to show where they are located.

Cheers, Paul.

Unfortunately, carsonbleu hasn't been on the forum in almost 5 years. That's the problem with responding to old threads. People come and go. Hopefully, someone else in this thread will see your question and respond.
