Default Installed Manual Rear Sunshade 10 minutes work

Hi Guys;
I purchased a manual rear sunshade for my 2008 528I from BMW and it took me 10 minutes to install it. very easy way and it is not required to remove the rear shelf...all original parts used.
I will try to post some pictures and work instruction this weekend if anyone interested.

I'm interested too.. can't someone tell me what you mean by subscribed? Is this in a general sense or is there actually an option on the forum to subscribe to replies in a thread or by a particular user?

Nevermind.. found the Watch Topic options.. I knew I'd figure it out the second I posted.

Looks like something I want to do. Cost for parts?

I paid $114 plus shipping from BMW in California (You may need to check with your local BMW dealer for price) for the sunshade and $1.70 for using longer screws and washer.
I am very pleased with the sunshade and look great too.
Also, I have no issues using it at night and I really can't tell the difference?.

Sweet. I'm already tinted, but I would like the rear shade as well for extra sun blockage. I'll look into prices.

Thanks.

neopoint -

I purchased my shade from eBMWParts.com for $114.57 + 11.46 shipping ($126.03). There were no instructions included so the DIY was very handy!! It took longer than 10 minutes though... but a lot of time was spent walking between the car and tool box in the house since I ALWAYS forget something.

I would add that the rear seat head rests had to be removed in order to remove the torx bolt behind the Airbag clip. This can be avoided if you have a stubby T20 torx but I don't recall ever seeing stubby torx. I also found that I could not drill from the top due to the narrow space between the rear window and sill. No biggie drilling from the trunk since you're only going through a small amount of insulation and perhaps 1/8" of plastic.

I purchased 8x32 3" bolts. The shade came with 1/2" bolts so apparently it works on other vehicles but pointless for installation on an E60.

The slots in the clips were a bit too narrow. This made it somewhat difficult to slide the clips over the panel's upholstery. Again, no big deal but they could make slots just a little bit wider to ease the installation.

Cheers!
