Thumbs up

Hi,

I have read the posts on how to install the sport sterring wheel, but they do not seem to explain how to install and wire a wheel with paddle shifters. I have searched "paddle shift install" and cannot seem to find the details I need. I have also read through http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=70023

Can you help me?

I have a 2006 550i with the standard wheel - no paddles. I have purchased a sport wheel with paddle shifters, and the round airbag (post 09/2005 as build date is 11/2005). How do I install this sucker so that the paddles work?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You need to buy a kit...There roughly $300... You can get one from Fred member 530iM or member schulrog....

You can find it here: http://www.aftermarketbulbsshop.com/BMW-Pa...-p/bmw-pa-r.htm

Just let me know if you have the push/pull paddles or the illuminated +/- paddles.

Hi Mate, I have an E60 LCI 530d M Sport. I don't have SAT but plan on retrofitting SAT. Can I fit this paddleshift kit to my car??

Thanks

currently I don't think anyone offers a paddleshift kit for the new shift knob style due to the difference or lack of wiring possibilities.

Here are some other threads about this. Depending on your skill level, you can either buy a wiring kit or attempt to engineer one yourself...

Hey Mate, I recently bought a 530D M-sport - the previous owner fitted the M5 steering wheel with the paddle shifters, he told me that they dont function and just need coding.

After some research I found out there is in fact no recoding required, I've found plenty of information that tells me I need to wire the paddles to the gear shifter however nobody has done a guide (or at least if they have I cant find one).

As I've said about the steering is fitted and the paddles are illuminated just not functional, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Fergus

Hey guys,

I'm trying to fit in the M5 steering wheel (the LCI version) in to my pre-LCI 535d.

I've already did one attempt when I observed what follows:
- My factory installed (M-sports) steering wheel is equipped with airbag module/connector inside the bottom arm
- My M5 steering wheel (LCI) does not have that module
- I've bought the LCI slip ring (equipped with airbag connector) but it wont fit the pre-LCI base

From there I've decided to buy the LCI base that will go with the LCI slip ring.
I checked the pictures online and they have the same connectors - just placed in different positions.

Now, I got the LCI slipring mounting base, that in theory should fit.
Before I take apart the steering column again I want to make sure if there are any surprises I should expect? My ignition slot uses a classic key with is obviously different than the LCI version. Should I expect any trouble trying to replace the whole set?

I would highly suggest getting a manufactured kit. from what i can read you are spending lots of $ on parts that don't fit.
