Hi, I had the same problem when I bought my 06. After searching and getting quotes from everywhere I ended up doing it myself. It is a piece of cake. Get the replacement and I do it for you for free in 20 min. I got my part from Bavauto.com for less than what the dealer is charging you.

Yeah.. have already ordered from the dealer ($67)...

think I'm gonna give it a DIY try... probably next Friday...

Keep everybody posted!

But keep posting any advice!

Thanks!

Hey All!

Well the trim came in Saturday and the BMW dealer was actually open so I went to pick up...

Let me tell you... such a SCAM on what they tell you installing it entails!!!

With some guidance from member Tex735 who had done this before, it took all of 20 mins total!!

All you do is remove the old trim, clean out around the glass and channel, center up the trim at the top, and slip it on.
It fits easily around the glass, press into place with the help of a thick, flat screwdriver...That's it!! PERFECT!!

NO removing the window!

The trim is basically there as a finish, and to channel water away from the SEALED window so the bond doesn't degrade.

Saved me $140 bucks that can now go towards my new roof spoiler!

glad that worked out well- HOWEVER- do NOT USE METAL SCREWDRIVERS NEAR AUTO GLASS. I cracked my windshield in half trying to remove a trim clip. you'd be amazed how quick and easy it is to break. Always use wood or plastic tools when working on the glass.

Anyone know how much bavauot has it for? The other site posted has it for $50 shipped. I need to do this too, my rubber seal is all cracked... Thanks for posting, I was trying to find that old post on this, but couldn't find it.

I just did this today, bought the one off ECS Tuning and it fit perfectly. Like everyone said earlier, it was very easy to do. Rip the old junk one off and fit the new one on. Sooooooooooooo glad to not have that cracked thing on my car anymore, it was embarassing.
